ABout ME

Julia Pesavento was born in 1997 in Toronto, Canada.

She received her first cello lessons at the Schmalkalden Music School with Susanne Bleck and continued her studies at the Carl Maria von Weber High School of Music in Dresden, where she studied with Prof. Gunda Altmann and Prof. Emil Rovner.

rom 2018 to 2023, she completed her Bachelor of Music in the class of Prof. Susanne Müller-Hornbach and later Prof. Hans-Christian Schweiker at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Since October 2023, she has been pursuing her Master of Music studies in the class of Prof. Hans-Christian Schweiker, and since April 2025, she has continued her Master’s studies with Prof. Thomas Carroll.

In 2013, she was awarded the 2nd prize at the national Carl Schroeder Competition. She participated in masterclasses with renowned cellists such as Tim Stolzenburg, Christian Wilm Müller, Joseph Schwab, Sabine Krams, Martina Schucan, Vashti Hunter, Marc Coppey, Anssi Karttunen, Stephan Koncz, Troels Svane and the Asasello Quartet.

Julia has performed in numerous chamber music ensembles and has received chamber music coaching from Kerstin Dill, Albrecht Winter, Alexander Puliaev, Prof. David Quiggle, Prof. Anthony Spiri, and Robert Kulek.
She has been a member of several orchestras as well as baroque and contemporary music ensembles.

She performs regularly with the EOS Chamber Orchestra and the Ensemble ColLAB Köln under the direction of Prof. Susanne Blumenthal. Through this ensemble, she had the opportunity to work intensively with Helmut Lachenmann.

Julia took part in festivals such as the Open Arts Festival, TSCHÖ Festival, Michael von Biel  Festival, Orbit Festival, and the Schrittmacher Festival. In July 2022, she performed with the FAB Festival Orchestra of the Festival Academy Budapest under the baton of Maxim Rysanov

Various projects have taken her to venues such as the Semperoper Dresden, Dresden Kreuzkirche, Berlin Cathedral, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Wuppertal Stadthalle, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Westfalen Hallen, Lanxess Arena, and abroad to countries including France, Hungary, Thailand, the Netherlands, and Italy.

In 2025, Julia completed an orchestral internship with the Niederrheinische Symphoniker. For the academic year 2024/25, she has been awarded the Deutschlandstipendium.
